At Nara Community Early Learning Centre, we were invited to support a project with a simple but important goal: to improve the wellbeing of the staff who care for and educate young children every day.
The centre had outgrown its existing facilities, particularly the staff areas, which were too small and lacked access to natural light and fresh air. Paperarc were engaged to design a new staff room and planning area that would create a quiet, comfortable space for rest and collaboration, allowing the dedicated team of educators at Nara to be able to recharge and focus on their work. Together with the centres Building and Grounds Committee, we secured a successful funding application through the State Government to bring this vision to life.
We also worked with the Nara community, including children, staff and parents, to reimagine the Joey’s room, which was in poor condition, challenging to supervise and no longer met the needs of staff or children. The refurbished layout brings better flow to the space, including a more functional nappy change area, improved visibility, and thoughtful consideration of sleeping and feeding needs.
The works were delivered on time and on budget by Eastern Property Services, whose practical and respectful approach helped realise a design that supports both the educators and the children in their care. We’re proud to have been part of this small but meaningful project.
